New Designs

1940's male
My new design focuses on Mary father who was a member of the home guard. To grab a better idea I decided to look into the male style during the 1940's. Males seemed to have a unique style a structure so to say in the face and the hair style also.

Two quick examples.

During this I threw together different images to create this sketch of a male from that era.
The pencil sketch of the male.I tried to sketch out the structure of the face and the hair style. also the stylish suit.

A applied ink to the sketch and a bit of colour and rubbed out the pencil lines I think I did a nice job on drawing out the male figure.

Home Guard Uniform

Researching into the home guards I looked over their uniform and equipment to obtain accuracy. The equipment consist of their webbing, their weaponry, the helmets, boots and arm strap.

The Home Guard wore second hand uniform usually uniform and even weapons adapted from World War II  men who were not fit enough to fit nor were the age to joined the armed forces. They job was to watch over and give a call in case of an air raid and protect the citizen's of their homes.

My panel sketches for my new piece

Limited but these are the idea's that I had conjured up in my mind.  I wanted to go for a kind of propaganda poster kind of style.
Like an advertisement something that fits that era which was full of posters.

These two images are something I am looking to go for with my image. The image would feature the father of Mary posed with her toy pram and house symbolizing the cross of a member of the home guard and a loving caring father. My idea for the colour scheme is something like the image below focusing on using different shades of one colour.
