My first sketches

Here are my first sketches for my project as said in my last post on here as I said I was focusing on a moment in her childhood this being her time in the hospital which she spent most of her childhood.

The first image here focus's on my toy idea, instead of using life like drawings. This image references her lose of leg function due to being diagnosed with Polio, I decided to make Mary more like a detachable doll unable the break away from the hand removing her usage of her legs and her parents looking into the window.

 This was a more simple approach of the idea above. To show a broken toy representing Mary as a child which is also referenced through the the young girls shoe, I am not sure if this particular image brings across the message I am thinking of, not really my favorite image in the sketches but it has a small essence to it. 

The last sketch here is a symbol of entrapment that Mary spoke of during her time in the  hospital so to try and grasp this entrapment I drew her engulfed in chains with hands tightening the grasp, the hands represent the doctors of the hospital keeper her from freedom.
